but ultimately you need pitching and hitting to win. Lefty relievers just aren't that valuable, ultimately. They could have gone with Romo and someone else cheap and have gotten nearly the same WAR... as dominant? No, but it means more to have an every day player who can hit than a guy who is going to throw relatively few innings.
