It's his loss and our loss, but I do not see a way out of it. Beltran is a greedy a-hole, so this is what he gets. Less money than Cuddyer, a team without Pujols, and St. Louis' non-existent night life. It shows that the market for Beltran was not there. We could have hard balled the Mets last season and not give up Wheeler. Maybe they would have settled for Surkamp.

Our loss was not going for someone like Josh Willingham when we still need another bat. It's due to being cheap and stupid. Next year, when we realize we still need a bat, then we have to pay mucho dollars for some old vet. It's better to have more than less and spend a few more dollars now. You can always get your money back next season if there are extra players.
