If you can't answer the questions you asked about increased revenue streams, you can't even talk about Pujols. And Pujols is basically the latest ARod, so according to your own theorizing you don't want him.
You can't match the Yankees revenue streams. See my post above for why.
And you talk about the Giants payroll like it's middling or something. It's somewhere around the 4th or 5th highest in MLB. Every team ahead of them is in a much larger media market. So the owners are actually ponying up for a competitive team. Unfortunately they are stuck with two albatross contracts which make that $130 million functionally worth only $100 million. They still have to pay 130 million.
What you're talking about is owners taking big operating losses to make you happy. It would be nice, but what I'd like to see is no more Zito and Rowand contracts. Do that and this level of payroll is extremely competitive.
You're just way over the top.
