New York metro area has almost 19 million people.
SF/Oakland/San Jose metro area has 4,335,000 or so.
According to the last numbers I could find, the Yankees get $58 million in local media revenue each year. The Mets get $46 million. The Red Sox get $34 million. The giants get about $18 million. That's $40M more each year that the Yankees have to work with than the Giants. Every year. Two $20 million a year players every single year.
The Giants have to pay for their stadium on their own. No other major league team has to do that.
There is no market cap for a baseball team. There's a fan base, merch sales, media revenue. Those are revenue streams, not stock holdings.
No offense, but your rant is rather immature. This business is all about money. It's not like the Yankees and the Red Sox are losing money to put out those big payrolls. The Giants would have to lose money in order do what you're talking about. Or, to put it this way. How many games to you attend in person? If you do, would you be willing to double your ticket prices and go to as many games in order to get this done? If not, why not?
Some very basic facts.
