and gone for Michael Bourn. He would have been more expensive because the Braves wanted him. Others wanted Hunter Pence whom was even more expensive.
I can't fault what Sabean did, but he is paying for it this season. Without the ability to to re-sign Beltran, he still needs to get a replacement bat but he's given up pursuit. It means it could come back to bite the Giants in the ass once the season is underway and end up costing them even more money. He should follow up and get a lesser priced bat, but it appears he's caving in to Baer and management. The goal is to win the division, so you have to expect other teams to improve and respond.
I would have spent a little more...
