is that the contracts given out during the steroid-era REALLY distorted MLB's sense of value on players at or around mid-peak of their career(s). Those inflationary effects finally seem to be wearing off as the market regulates itself back to the trusty old "how long until said player is 30 yrs old?" sector.
Reyes probably woulda made 120+mil easy, even w/ the injury history, during the height of the steriod era.
Hell...I gotta admit...when I first heard $106mil, I first thought "not a bad deal."
Which is kind of ridiculous when you step away for a moment and consider all the negative variables at play.
agree...only reason that sum sounds somewhat reasonable to some of us
