I can understand going all in because support will be incredibly high with the excitement of a brand new stadium. I can understand establishing a winning product to convince investors and fans alike to support the team. But I've NEVER heard of a team as frugal as the Marlins making a complete 180 in spending with the arrival of said stadium.
Pirates? Padres? Reds? Brewers? Closest example is the Nationals and what they did in free agency comes no where close to what the Marlins are aspiring to do.
$300+ million in new contracts (on three players no less), to go along with the massive expenses of a new stadium?
