and you see if he's totally overmatched or just has a hole, and you see if he makes adjustments to improve (which he did) and you decide if his defense, which is in another world from Burriss', is worth the risk that he can become a .250 hitter who works counts and has some power.

Everything you said about his offense could have been said about Omar Vizquel's or Ozzie Smith's. I'm not putting Crawford's defense on that level but they are just two examples of light hitting guys who learned to be solid hitters.

If you'd rather have Burriss at short I guess you don't care about defense much.
