Cain is an anchor of a pitching staff that is the centerpiece of this team, and should be. They can't replace what he brings without spending as much money as they'll spend on him, and that's just on the field. In the clubhouse he's a big part of things too.
Montero isn't even certain of remaining at his defensive position, and may be a good hitter someday but is still a question mark. To me he's just another guy who would be part of a crowd at first base, and not all that useful in improving the club.
Swisher is a mediocre player. Like someone else said, I'd just as soon have Schierholtz out there.
That deal would be flat out stupid for the Giants.
I don't do calculations like that.
