That said, we get an all-star shortstop, lead-off hitter, and speed to burn for years to come. I'd hate to face a Reyes, Brown, and Cabrera 1-2-3 top of the order. Reyes isn't a gold glove, but he is solid D up the middle.
As for money, Huff and Rowand's deals are gone after 2012, and Zito's albatross falls off in two years.
Yeah, if the budget is $130 M. If the offer is $110 M for six years, it works out to $18.3 M+/yr which is a lot.
