And most of those guys are big strong types. Not really the kind of guys yo picture zipping around the bases. Also, hitting with power that consistently takes a lot of lower body torque and strength. Exactly the kind of strength that is impacted by the daily pounding of numerous slides and stops/starts that base stealers subject themselves to.
It takes a really special athlete to be able to accomplish that......
Consider this......I could be wrong, but I think Barry Bonds is the only player in history to ever steal 50 bases in a season and hit 50 HRs in a season, durign their career (not in the same year of course). What kind of special athletic talent does one have to have to be able to do that?
I mean.....DAMN!!!
Not really......40 HRs is pretty damn hard to get
