1. He's had significant time to develop in the the Minors and has had success.

2. He has incredible bat speed and plus power and reasonable plate discipline.

3. He is more than adequate defensively at 1B and athletic enough to play other positions, i.e. 2B/LF.

4. He has the confidence to survive the up & downs rookies tend to have offensively.

5. He is entering his prime and has prototype 1B size (height/weight)

6. He showed us all last year, in September, during the Playoff chase that he can mash, PERIOD! And he wasn't intimidated by the big stage..
