I know, this has been discussed already, but I am thinking it make a lot of sense.
I can really see Rowand playing for the Cubs. Right now they have no one else to play center, they have plenty of offense and in that park dude is likely to up his homer total to the 20s.
For us, we save money. Combine that move with trading Sanchez (and Gillespie, I have my doubts that he can play 3b and hit for power) for Upton to play CF.
Hell, I might even reconsider resigning Freddy Sanchez, but lets say they resign him and resign Penny.
staff:
Tincecum
Cain
Zito
Penny
MadBum or other minor leaguer
Upton - CF
Sanchez - 2b
Bradley - LF
Pablo - 3b
Posey - C
Uribe/Renteria - SS
Ishikawa - 1b
Schierholtz/Velez - RF
probably not well thought out, but has some nice possibilities and if Bradley wigs out, not that big a deal with Schierholtz/Bowker/Velez hanging around.
Actually, you would not need to trade Rowand to acquire Upton, he could play RF or Rowand could move to LF. Rowand just seems more valuable to the Cubs than to us.
trade Rowand for Bradley first...
